Quests and stories, by Richard Langdow

All I can say is today has been eventful in the world of Brittania. The day started normally as I went about my daily routines. Udo and I dug up a couple treasures and played with their guardians for a little while. Much fun. After we were done digging we returned to Skara Brae to purchase another horse for Udo to replace the one he had lost on the adventure. No sooner had we arrived, the town crier's started giving warnings of an undead bear that was plagueing the town. We journeyed to the councillors guild where a mage directed us to the beast. The battles was fierce. Magics were flying swords were singing, and above all the racket the bear was howling. At last the bear had been slain with but no casulties. No sooner had the bear fallen, the mage realized our mistake and went deathly white. We had unleashed the undead upon Skara Brae. With the bears last breath he raised the bones of ancient warriors and magi the wreak havoc upon the town. The battle was once again joined. Udo and I raced through town trying to avoid the plague of undead but we were forced to battle. We let looses with a barrage of energy that would fell a normal monster, but liche lords are of another matter all together. After a struggle the liche fell only to be replaced by mummies and skeletal warriors. Spectres and wraiths roamed the streets, and the casulties began to mount. After a long struggle the citizens began to finish off the undead. Less were appearing and more were being sent back to the grave. Skara Brae was once again safe, and the mage who started this all was no where to be found.

I found myself later that day in Britain. Listening to the passerbyers hock their wares, I heard one call that caught my attention. Elder Treebeard was calling all able bodied warriors to the aid of one of the crown's Lords.

The lord had lost his son to the hand of a scoundrel. The boy was trying to protect the honor of a fair maid, but he had failed against his better. The brigand, known only as The Widow Maker, had been spotted by the Shrine of Sacrifice. He had with him an army of orcs and ettins. A few elementals were summoned into the fray as well.

Lord Zed and I battled bravely, trying as we might to get close enough to the villian to slay him. Havoc, Zed's dragon, thought this day was just wonderful and munched happily on the bones of the dead orcs that kept pileing themselves at his feet.

Warriors of the land finally broke the defenses and engaged the murderer. He was a fierce combatant and slew many before he himself became lost under a sea of swords and waves of energy. The honor of the Lord's sons had been satisfied and the warriors and mages once again gathered in Britain for a drink to celebrate.

All in all I would say it was a busy day in Brittania. Could this be a sign of things to come from OSI. More quests? Evil to actually plague the land instead of wander around waiting to be killed by the next warrior with a sword?
